Meet Our Founder

Kennedy is pediatric registered nurse, mentor and future Family Nurse Practitioner passionate about empowering the next generation of Black healthcare professionals. A proud graduate of Hampton University, Kennedy has always been deeply committed to representation, community, and creating safe spaces for students navigating the journey into nursing and healthcare.

With experience in pediatric nursing through organizations such as Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Wellstar Health System, Kennedy has witnessed firsthand the importance of diversity in the medical field. Her experiences as both a student and nurse inspired her to create Beyond the Scrubs — a community dedicated to uplifting Black students pursuing nursing through mentorship, leadership development, networking, and meaningful connection

As a young Black nurse born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Kennedy is continuing her own educational journey towards becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner at Emory University starting in Fall 2026. Kennedy understands the challenges, pressures, and importance of having guidance and support along the way. Through Beyond the Scrubs, she hopes to inspire future nurses to lead with confidence, purpose, excellence, and compassion while building a legacy of representation in healthcare.
